(REDDING, CALIF..) – Oregon Tech scored 21 runs on 22 hits in its first game on Friday knocking off host Simpson 21-8. The owls then gave up 7 runs in the final two innings losing 9-7 to the University of Antelope Valley in its second game of the day being played at Tiger Field.

In game 1, Oregon Tech scored a run in each of the first two innings then broke the game wide open scoring 9 runs in the 3rd inning and capped of the game with a 7-run 9th to win 21-8.

Chase Meister pitched the first 5 innings giving up 4-runs on 5-hits in picking up the win for Oregon Tech. Garrett Greenhaw was tagged with the loss for Simpson giving up 11-runs and 13-hits to OIT in just 2 and 2/3rds of an inning.

Dylan Rogers led Oregon Tech with 5-hits in 5 at bats scoring 3 times while knocking in 5 base runners. Ryan Hayden added 4-hits and scored 4 times in the win as Oregon Tech improved to 4-4 on the season. Simpson falls to 0-10 with the loss.

In game 2, Tech took the lead in the top of the first after Ryan Hayden doubled Dylan Rogers singled giving the Hustlin’ Owls the 1-0 lead. Antelope Valley took the lead back with 2-runs in bottom of the 1st, taking advantage of two walks, a hit, and an OIT error.

Oregon Tech would tie the game at 2-2 with a run in the 5th, then Tech would take the lead 3-2 in the top of the 7th on a Maty Shanks double and a Jered Nelson RBI single.

Antelope Valley would take the lead back in the bottom of the 7th scoring 4-runs on 3-hits and an OIT error to lead 6-3.

OIT battled back in the top of the 8th scoring 2-runs to make it a 6-5 game.

Antelope Valley added 3 more runs in the bottom of the 8th on 3-hits and a walk to take a 9-5 lead.

In the top of the 9th OIT rallied for 2-runs on 3-hits but with two out and the tying run at the plate Tech’s Tyler Conklin grounded out to end the game.

DJ Sterling picked up the win for Antelope Valley as he pitched 7-innings giving up 3-runs all earned. Oregon Tech’s Raf Belloc picked up the loss.

Ryan Hayden, Dylan Rogers and Jared Nelson led the OIT attack with 3-hits each.

The two teams will meet again at 1:00 pm on Saturday in Redding, California at Tiger Field.
