Oregon Tech Offers Summer Youth Programs
April 19, 2013, KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech will kick off the summer with three camps available for area youth. Whether it’s finding an outlet for creative construction at a LEGO camp or expressing interest in acting and videography at DayDreamer Film Camp, Oregon Tech fits your students’ needs! This year, LEGO is available as two camps: Beginners from June 17-21 or Challenge from June 24-28. Each LEGO camp is held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a light snack provided. DayDreamer is available June 24-28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with lunch included.
LEGO Beginners: Building Blocks is available to children ages 8-12 with no experience required. Students will engage in activities that enhance personal creativity, ability to follow instructions, hand-eye coordination, and critical thinking proficiency. LEGO Challenge invites 10-14 year olds to participate in hands-on active learning through structured lessons and challenges that introduce students to programming topics, basic physics, and scientific principles. At the completion of the camps, students will have developed their personal creativity through working with teams to critically solve problems. Both LEGO camps are $155 per student and only $130 for each additional student from the same family. Students age 10-12 who wish to attend both camps may do so for a cost of $235 per student and $185 for each student from the same family. Registration ends Monday, June 10, 2013.
At DayDreamer Film Camp, you are the star! You are also the actor, writer, choreographer, director, camera crew, sound crew, and special effects team. Fifth to twelfth graders are invited to learn about film making by learning lighting, editing, camera angles, and how a film is put together from start to finish. Make a music video and a short film. Premiere your group’s productions on the final night to friends and family. Camp tuition is $275 per student and $250 for each additional student from the same family. Cost includes lunch. Registration closes Monday, June 17, 2013.
These summer camps foster creativity, team work, and computational thinking. Register early for these camps to reserve your child's space! Registration for each camp is available at www.oit.edu/precollege. Contact Kathy Stanek for more information at 541-885-1143 or email@example.com.
