Oregon Tech Dental Hygiene students are honoring National Dental Hygiene month by constructing sports guards for athletes at no charge.

Klamath Falls, ORE. – Oregon Tech Dental Hygiene students are honoring National Dental Hygiene month by constructing sports guards for athletes at no charge. The clinic will be held November 7, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. and will be constructing sports guards for up to 24 area athletes.

Sports guards are not only recommended for individuals who play contact sports, but also for those who enjoy any recreational activities that pose risk to the mouth. Dental injuries are the most common type of orofacial injury sustained during participation in sports; the majority of these are preventable by wearing a protective mouth guard. Custom made sports guards have been proven to be the safest on the market, as well as the most comfortable; providing maximum breathability.

Please allow one hour for the initial appointment, as well as a shorter follow up appointment once the sports guard is ready to be delivered. A $10.00 donation would be appreciated, to help cover the cost of materials. If interested, please contact the dental hygiene clinic at 541-885-1330 to schedule your appointment. Appointment slots are limited, so call today!

With your help, we can spread awareness about the importance of sports guards, and promote National Dental Hygiene month.
