Badging and Micro-credentials

You may earn digital badges that can be displayed on your website, electronic resume, ePortfolio, Facebook or other social networking sites, and more.

Each digital badge will provide a unique and protected link to Oregon Tech’s database showing when a badge is earned or a specific skill set has been achieved. Employers and those viewing your digital information will be linked directly to your personal badge on the Oregon Tech website, allowing them to learn more about the specific skill set you have achieved at Oregon Tech.

Badges Offered:

Anatomy and Physiology Series

Requirements: BIO 231, BIO 232, BIO 233
Lectures focus on physiology and rely on lecture videos, exercises, and assigned reading. Labs focus on anatomy studied from a 3D interactive anatomy program available online, images, drawings, and lab videos introducing the anatomical parts of the system covered in the given week.

This fully online, three-term sequence offers four badges—one for completion of each course and an additional badge for completion of the entire series. This course sequence consists of three, 4-credit courses (total of 12 credits).

Microsoft Office 365 Lab Series

​Requirements: MIS 101, MIS 102, MIS103
​ Each of these 1-credit online courses will cover a different aspect of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite. MIS 101 teaches word processing skills using Microsoft Word, including creating and editing documents, Web pages, labels, newsletters, research papers, an index, and table of contents. MIS 102 prepares students to use Microsoft Excel including creating worksheets, charts, formulas, functions, pivot tables, and more. MIS 103 focuses on the creation of presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint and includes instruction on use of text, graphics, charts, and multimedia.

Each course allows students to earn a badge proving proficiency and a final badge if all three courses are successfully completed. The series is also a great way to prepare for online classes or to continue building your professional development skills.


MRI Specialization Series

Requirements: BIO 335 & BIO 375, MIT 341, MIT 342, MIT 365, MIT 411
The labs and lectures in this series explain the physics, safety, and techniques used in magnetic resonance imaging. This specialization culminates in completing the didactic and clinical requirements for ARRT registered radiologic technologists.

This is a fully online series contains 7 badges—one for completion of each course and an additional badge for completion of the entire series.

MIS-NetworkingEssentials

Network Essentials Badge

Requirements: MIS 251
The Oregon Tech Network Essentials Badge is earned by students who have demonstrated their knowledge in the fundamentals of computer networking including: the OSI and TCP/IP models, common network cables and connectors, networking devices, common network protocols and ports, IP addressing and basic subnetting, wireless network standards, basic network security, and the ability to troubleshoot common network problems.

Criteria: Earned grade of B or higher in MIS 251


MIS-NetworkTech

NetworkTECH Badge

Requirements: MIS 351 and MIS 451
Students who have earned the NetworkTECH badge have demonstrated the required knowledge and skills to setup, manage and maintain a small to mid-sized business network. This includes: operations of IP data networks, basic network design, LAN switching technologies, IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, IP routing technologies, WAN technologies and network troubleshooting. 

Criteria: Earned grade of B or higher in MIS 351 and MIS 351 (or MIS 451)


Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)

Requirements: MIT 209, MIT 219, MIT 229, MIT 239, MIT 249, MIT 259
Those with a background in medical imaging technology and an aptitude and desire to work with computers and computer networks are ideal candidates for the PACS specialization. PACS involves the acquisition, display, transmission and archiving of digital medical images. PACS handles images from all modalities, including ultrasonography, radiography, magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography and computed tomography.
