This Weeks Trip:  The next trip the OP is hosing Deep Sea Fishing in Newport, Oregon. This trip is only 60 dollars for students and 120 for non students and including everything from gear to the transportation (the cost of the charter alone is 80 dollars per person), you only have to bring yourself, some warm clothes (it is the Oregon Coast after all), an Oregon fishing license, and some spending money for the Historic Newport Bayfront. The trip leaves from the OP at 4:00pm on Friday and will be returning by 10:00pm Sunday night.

Next Weeks Trip: The trip after the Deep Sea trip is fly fishing on the Willamson River at the famous Yamsi Ranch. This day trip is going to be hosted at the Yamsi ranch on the Willamson River with instruction by world class instructor John Hyde. Sign ups for this trip should be up by the end of the week and cost will be around 5-10 dollars for students.

Once again I have a reminder that you need to sign up for a trip that you want to go on atleast by the Wednesday before the trip. So remember the earlier the better, and dont forget to bring your friends; the more the merrier!

Also one more thing we have the trip lineup for the spring up on the website if you have any questions about the trips or approximate prices please swing by the office and ask.

New Changes

Hello everyone,

I am Brandon Long. I am now the new communications/IT director for the OP. That mainly means that I am incharge of the website and communicating to the student body. The first change that will be very visible on the website is the pictures link that will be up as soon as I can get pictures uploaded and set up the link. The second change isnt as obvious, at super club sign up stop by the OP booth and visit us to inquire about signing up for the new OP mailing list. This list, which will either be bi monthly or monthly and will contain prices, details and information about the trips comming up as well as changes or deals going on with the OP. If you dont want to wait till superclub sign up(or you miss us) you can swing by the OP office durring hours and ask to sign up there.

Thanks,

Brandon Long

Mission

The Outdoor Program, cleverly nicknamed The OP, is a student run organization designed to cultivate the outdoor interests of the OIT community. Employees organize trips that are open for all interested. Past activities range from canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, caving, rock climbing, downhill skiing, wildlife observing and bungee-jumping, to name just a few.

Trips are generally run every weekend during the term.  Transportation is almost always provided, as well as the use of OP equipment.  The cost to participants is extremely low.

If you see a trip advertised that you're interested in, please contact us to find out more information.  Payment for trips must be received before you can sign up.

Novices are encouraged to participate! It may be an activity you've never done before which is what we love!  We will help cultivate the new experience for you!  We can't guarantee that you'll become an expert, but we'll do our best to show you the basics as well as a fun time. We are also looking for experienced people who wish to share their passion for outdoors with others.

In addition to sponsoring trips, the OP also has a wide variety of equipment available at low rental rates. So, if you need a pair of snowshoes for the weekend, a tent, kayak, snowboard, backpack or sleeping bag check out our prices here on the web and STOP BY!!  We have great equipment just waiting for you to pick up.

If you're looking for some adventure or just an excuse to crawl out from under the books, come by the OP office and see what we have to offer. The OP office is located upstiars in the new CU complex near Subway.

Come see or e-mail us!!!
