Why did you choose Oregon Tech?
I chose Oregon Tech because I wanted a four year medical degree and my parents are alumni. I looked into medical imaging and clinical laboratory science and, eventually chose clinical laboratory science because I love chemistry. I also am a big nerd so when I saw the culture here I knew I would fit right in.
What do you like best about your major?
I love that I will be problem solving daily as well as being in a science and healthcare field. The work is always changing as we come up with new methods and new technology. The lab is a diverse and ever changing field that I am really excited to work in. I unfortunately am fascinated by urine and am super excited to study it!
What would be your dream job in your major?
My dream job would be to run a small lab. I enjoy the business side of things and would like to get into managing a small physician’s office lab. I mean also leading a research team would be fun, but I think running a lab would be more my speed.
What’s your favorite thing to do off campus?
My favorite thing to do off campus is hard to say, I equally enjoy playing video games and crafting. I like to combine these two joys and make fun nerdy stuff. I am not the greatest but it is the process of creating that I like the most. I also love cats and I like to make costumes for my cat. Pretty much anything that involves either cats, crafts, or video games I enjoy.
What’s your most memorable moment on campus?
My most memorable moment on campus was my first time visiting. I spent my first three years of college at our Klamath Falls campus and was nervous to spend my final year in a new place. Upon walking in I stumbled upon some staff and they were super excited to show me around campus and tell me about the opportunities we offer at this campus. The enthusiasm helped me come into this new campus with an enthusiasm myself that I continue to have to this day.
