Suzann Schmidt has an extensive amount of prehospital experience including fire, air transport, and private ambulance. She has contributed countless hours, as a prior member of the Board of Medical Examiners EMS Subcommittee, and the State EMS Committee. Suzann holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, and is a Nationally Registered Paramedic (OHSU Alumni).

Justin Dillingham, MPA, NREMT-P

Justin Dillingham has broad prehospital experience; as a volunteer EMT in rural Oregon, a private ambulance paramedic, and lastly as a flight paramedic in Portland. He participates in a number of local, state, and national initiatives, including efforts to advance Emergency Medical Services through research. Justin holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Human Resource Management, a Master of Public Administration in Labor Relations, and is a Nationally Registered Paramedic (OHSU Alumni).

Charmaine Kaptur, BSN, RN, NREMT-P

Charmaine Katpur has a variety of prehospital experience; as a private ambulance paramedic, training director, and firefighter. She participates in a number of local and state EMS projects. Charmaine holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and is a Nationally Registered Paramedic (OHSU Alumni).

Kate Darling, BA, NREMT-P

Kate Darling is an experienced lead paramedic with American Medical Response. She teaches portions of pharmacology and electrocardiography interpretation to paramedic students. She also helps a tremendous amount with lab time. Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts, and is Nationally Registered Paramedic (OHSU Alumni).

James Bryan, MD, PhD

Jim Bryan is the Medical Director for the OHSU / OIT Paramedic Education Program. He is a staff physician at OHSU, and the US Veterans Administration Hospital. Jim frequently lectures the OHSU / OIT students, and has presented at several State and Regional EMS Conferences. He also serves on the Multnomah County EMS Quality Assurance Committee. Jim holds a medical degree and doctorate in pharmacology from Oregon Health & Science University.

Andria Fultz, MS, MS Ed

Andria Fultz joined the program in 2007.  With her extensive background in adult education and communication, Andria brings the Program additional support for the students and faculty.  She is an advisor to the students and to new program applicants. Andria provides an open line of communication between the program and EMS and health care communities.

Rhonda Shoop

Rhonda Shoop, a Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue employee, provides half-time support to the faculty and staff of the Paramedic Education Program.  Her responsibilities include fiscal management, coordination of faculty travel and administrative support.

 

All instructional staff successfully completed the National Association of EMS Educators: EMS Instructor Course. Most have formal academic training in adult learning / pedagogy, and have an extensive amount of experience teaching all levels of EMS responders. Most instructional staff hold BLS, PHTLS, AMLS, PALS, and ACLS instructor credentials, and are current members of the National Association of EMS Educators.
