The OIT Bachelor of Science degree completion program in Mechanical Engineering Technology affords employed technicians and transfer students the opportunity to attain a bachelor's degree in a minimum number of years while continuing in their technical positions. It takes full advantage of prior education that may have been attained in a community college, technical institute of other university.
The extended program has the quality and crediblity that employers expect of OIT. The program makes maximum use of learning opportunities at nearby partner colleges and within the manufacturing environment. Why a degree from OIT? OIT's Mechanical Engineering Technology classes are offered in the evening, one night a week to minimize commuting. The core classes are on a three-year cycle.
You will train on sophisticated equipment, including the latest design and manufacturing software running on personal computers and advanced engineering workstations and a concurrent engineering center, in which high-end software is used from end to end, including configuration, FEA and NC tool path.
As an OIT Mechanical Engineering Technology major, you will understand modern manufacturing and design processes, learn how to select materials for production, work with basic and advanced hardware and technology and become adept at using computer-based engineering design tools. For OIT/Portland students, the Senior Projects are usually projects that the students do on their jobs, with visitations from OIT faculty and coordinated with their supervision. |
