The Oregon Institute of Technology offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at its Klamath Falls campus. The Biology degree prepares students for careers in biology or life science professions, as well as admission to professional graduate programs in biomedical and health sciences, or graduate programs in life sciences and education. The Biology program provides students fundamental preparation in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. After completing the core curricula, students may select from course pathways in the biological sciences or in the health-related pre-professional biomedical sciences. The pre-medical professions pathway offers enhanced exposure to anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, genetics, immunology, and microbiology. Close association with the Sky Lakes Medical Center provide opportunities for career exploration, mentoring, and consultative expertise. The biological sciences pathway offers enhanced exposure to ecology, animal behavior, and evolution. Opportunities for field studies at Crater Lake National Park and Lava Beds National Monument are additional assets. Our department maintains close affiliations with state and federal environmental agencies to provide expertise and career opportunities. For typical coursework, in either the Biological Sciences or Biology for Pre-medical Professions, please see the course checklist and curriculum maps at right.
