Biology Student Profiles

Sarah Salmonson

Class of 2010

What made you decide to attend OIT?

I come from a small community on the coast that had small classes and a more personal feel. I loved that my instructors would know me by name and not some number. I have experienced getting to know some instructors and faculty on a more personal basis and have learned to appreciate the effort that goes into my education.

What is (or was) your favorite class?

I love anything biology related, such as Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology and Cell biology the most. Chemistry is not my strong suit nor is math!

What career do you hope to have after you graduate from OIT?

This year I plan on applying to the Clinical Lab Science program, so plan on working in the lab at some private or government agency.

What's the best thing about OIT?

The best thing for me at OIT really has been just getting to know people who have some of the same interests, goals and ideals that I do. I really am a people person and I have really gotten involved with several departments on Campus and discovered that that is the key to success. Get involved, be present.

Do you have any advice for new students?

So advice for new students..Run! No really. Get involved, don't procrastinate and have as much fun as you can!

Salmonson is the ASOIT president, 2009-10.
