About IEP
The International Externship Program is based in Klamath Falls. Each year the program provides a team of senior students with an opportunity to travel outside the United States on a dental care mission. Past destinations include Romania, Ukraine, Moldova, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Peru, and Guatemala.
Travel is coordinated through a global medical organization and an in-country partner. Expense is a large factor so students are encouraged to host fundraising events or line up sponsors in order to obtain the necessary funds for travel. Missions last approximately two weeks.
Most of the students that enter this program have not ventured outside the US borders. The exposure to cultural differences and provision of humanitarian aid often make the trip a life-changing experience.
IEP Coming to Chemeketa
Oregon Tech is developing an international externship program for dental hygiene students at Chemeketa Community College. Updates will be posted as the process continues.
