From the Director

Welcome to the Oregon Institute of Technology Environmental Sciences web page!  Thanks for choosing to visit our webpage and I hope that it provides the information you are looking for.  The Oregon Tech ENV program builds on three fundamental principles:  hands-on learning, in-depth understanding of scientific principles, and application of knowledge to real-world environmental challenges.  The curriculum is designed for completion in 4 years.  Students can choose an emphasis area in watershed science, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), or sustainable technologies or take courses from all emphasis areas.  Students can also take advantage of research opportunities focusing on vegetation response to wetlands restoration, climate change impacts in National Parks, and amphibian ecology at Crater Lake National Park.

Graduates of the program are actively recruited by major federal agencies such as the Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Land Management, US Fish and Wildlife Service, corporations, and non-profit organizations.  Given that the need for Environmental Scientists is projected to increase by 25% over the next 10 years, graduates of OIT’s Environmental Sciences program will be in demand both in Oregon and across the Pacific Northwest.

If you have any questions about the program, please contact us!  We welcome questions from community members seeking students for environmental projects or prospective students.  You will find our students, faculty, and staff a supportive, fun, and engaging group of people to work with!
