Mechanical Engineering Student Profiles
Shawn Miller
Class of 2010
What made you decide to attend OIT?
I liked the idea of small class sizes, hands on learning, and the feel of the campus just seemed friendly and inviting.
What is your favorite class?
I
can't narrow it down to one. Just about any of the engineering classes
that I have taken I have loved. The professors do a great job making
sure you understand the material and enjoy it.
If your best friend was trying to choose a college, what would you tell them about OIT?
It's
a great school, small classes, good teachers, and lots of help from all
over campus if you need it. If you really want to succeed in your major
I would suggest OIT.
What career do you hope to have after you graduate?
I
hope to be able to pursue a career in the applications side of
Renewable Energy and research and development that is focused towards
that field.
What’s the best thing about campus life, campus activities, and the other Fun parts of campus?
I
really enjoy getting involved with clubs and groups on campus. They are
a great way to get to know people and learn more about your major. The
Residence Hall has been the best part of the campus experience. I have
met more people, got involved in more activities, and in general had
more fun by living on campus.
What’s the best thing about OIT?
Small
class sizes; you get to know your teachers, they know you, and if you
need help generally you can find them and get your questions answered.
Do you have any advice for new students?
Get
involved, stay up on your studies and homework, and spend at least your
first year at OIT in the Residence Hall to help build some lasting
relationships.
