Renewable Energy Engineering Student Profiles
Jim Evans
Class of 2012
What made you decide to attend OIT?
OIT is the only school
with my major. Renewable Energy is one of the biggest, growing
industries in the world. At OIT, I will be at the heart of that growing
field.
What is (or was) your favorite class?
American
History (up to 1840). Dr. Clark is a very good teacher and the class he
instructs opens your mind to new ideas and interpretations of our
country's past.
What career do you hope to have after you graduate from OIT?
Id like to be a wind turbine farm engineer and design new gearboxes and airfoils for wind turbines.
What's the best thing about OIT?
The
Fraternity: Phi Delta Theta. When I came to OIT, I did not know anyone.
Joining Phi Delta Theta gave me the opportunity to make great lifelong
friends all across the nation.
Do you have any advice for new students?
Get
involved. College life is also about a person's ability to manage their
time. Joining a club is a great way to make friends, try something you
have always wanted to try, and make your college experience one of the
best times of your life.
Evans is the 2009-10
Veteran/Non-tradional senator for ASOIT. The yellow car pictured with
him is an electric drag racer in the Oregon Renewable Energy Center
