International Admission
Welcome
Oregon Institute of Technology is licensed to admit international students who hold an F-1 Student Visa. OIT welcomes freshmen and transfer international students to its main campus in Klamath Falls, Oregon. We also admit transfer international students to OIT Portland where programs are designed primarily for students who have already completed the required lower-division coursework. International students of OIT who plan to concurrently enroll in other schools should review the terms for concurrent enrollment.
First Steps
- Choose an OIT major.
- Choose an entry term from the OIT academic calendar.
- At least nine months prior to your entry term, submit an International Student Undergraduate Application Form, including the Statement of Financial Responsibility (pages 5-6).
- Mail the application form and a $50 (US) application fee to OIT International Admissions, 3201 Campus Dr., Klamath Falls OR 97601-8801.

Complete Your International Application for Admission
You must submit these items to complete your application for admission before OIT can make an admissions decision and issue an INS Form I-20:
Statement of Financial Responsibility
- Bank statements, tax returns or government sponsorship to verify funding available for the first year of college and the likelihood of funding for completing a degreeat OIT (as required by the US Immigration and Naturalization Service).
- The cost of attendance for an international student is generally calculated as the sum of tuition and fees for 15 credits, on-campus room and board, books and personal expenses ($29,307 for 2009-2010).
- The Statement of Financial Responsibility that you must complete is included in the International Application for Admission.
Official Transcripts
- OIT requires official academic transcripts of your academic history
- An official document is:
- Provided by the college or university where you completed your degree or course work.
- Received by OIT Admissions in a sealed enveloped mailed directly from the issuing institution
- Issued in the original language of the institution.
- An official document is NOT:
- A photocopy of a document in your possesion
- A document that you deliver or mail in an unsealed envelope
- A translation of a document
- A document authorized by an official notary or government office
- If your country issues only one official copy and you have the copy in your possession, mail a photocopy of the original to the issuing insitution and request to have it attested. The institution should indicate by signature or an official seal that this is an accurate representation of your academic history and it should be mailed directly to OIT by the institution.

Transcript Translation & Evaluation
Transcripts issued in languages other than English must be translated into English by a transcript evaluation service. Transcripts must also be translated into U.S. standards by the evaluation service. OIT accepts transcript evaluations from the following services:
Proof of English language proficiency
Proof of English language proficiency is required from one of the following:
- TOEFL (www.toefl.org):Minimum score of 520 paper-based, 190 computer-based, or 68 Internet-based.
- IELTS (www.ielts.org): Minimum score of 6
- Completion of a Level 112 course at an ESL Language Center
- ACT or SAT test scores are not required for international admissions, however students may choose to take either test as justification to waive TOEFL or IELTS
