List of Oregon Tech Foundation Scholarships
The following is a list of scholarships that are offered by the Oregon Tech Foundation. Not all scholarships listed are offered during every scholarship award process.
Angus Mack Walker Scholarship
The Angus Mack Walker Scholarship was established in November of 2007 by a gift from the Walker Family Foundation in honor of Angus Mack Walker, a 1983 graduate of Oregon Institute of Technology.
Armen Grossenbacher Memorial Scholarship
The Armen Grossenbacher Memorial Scholarship was established by Douglas Strain, founder of Electro Scientific Industries, Inc., in memory of Armen Grossenbacher, one of the very first employees of the company in 1949.
Asante Health System Scholarship for Healthcare Professions
The Asante Health System Scholarship for Healthcare Professions was established in November of 2007 as part of a $120,000 gift toward the Center for Health Professions. Asante is a medical imaging extern site partner with Oregon Tech and a supporter of the university.
Avista Scholars Scholarship
The Avista Corporation Minds in Motion Scholarship was established in 1992 by WP Natural Gas, a division of The Washington Power Company. In 1999, the company changed its name to Avista Utilities. In 2000, Avista Corporation started the Minds in Motion scholarship program to help develop leaders of tomorrow.

Berniece L. Cate Endowed Scholarship
Boeing Scholarship
The Boeing Scholarship was first established in 1995 by the Boeing Corporation.
Boivin Family Scholarship
The Boivin Family Scholarship was established in 1994 by the Harry D. Boivin Trust document.
Boyd Family Scholarship
The Boyd Family Scholarship was established in 2000 by Donald and Sherrill Boyd.
Cardno/WRG Design Scholarship
The WRG Design Scholarship was established in January 2008 to help a deserving Geomatics student with the financial side of school.
Catherine L. Lake Memorial Scholarship
The Catherine L. Lake Memorial Scholarship was established in 1984 in memory of "Katie" Lake by her friends and family. Mrs. Lake, a retired Oregon Tech faculty member, made an outstanding contribution to Oregon Tech through the years. This scholarship was established to continue her memory.
Charles V. Higbee Scholarship
The Charles V. Higbee Scholarship is an endowed award that was established by Charles V. Higbee, Emeritus Professor of Industrial Management at Oregon Tech. Charles came to Oregon Tech in the fall of 1970 with an MBA from the University of Utah. He was consistently ranked as one of the top instructors and was nominated for the Excellence in Teaching Award within the Oregon State System of Higher Education. Charles served many terms on the OIT Faculty Senate and was the first Senate President to be elected to that position for two consecutive terms. He was a leader on the Oregon Tech campus. Charles taught the upper division courses in Industrial Management and pioneered Economic Cost Analysis for geothermal energy. He published a chapter on the subject titled “Engineering Cost Analysis” for the Federal Department of Energy. He also developed a computer software program titled “RELCOST” for the Washington State Energy Office to calculate cost analysis for geothermal energy projects. Charles retired from Oregon Tech in 1987. His expertise was highly sought by industry, even after retirement. Professor Higbee established the Charles V. Higbee Scholarship in honor of his daughter Elizabeth, to help support students like her pursuing a college education while raising a family.
Coleman Family Scholarship Fund
The Coleman Family Fund was established by a grant from James Coleman through the Oregon Community Foundation in 2007.

Columbia Plywood Athletic Scholarship
The Columbia Plywood Athletic Scholarship was established in 2004 by contributions from the Columbia Plywood Company of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Columbia Plywood Corporation Scholarship
The Columbia Plywood Corporation Scholarship was established by contributions from the Columbia Plywood Company of Klamath Falls, Oregon, now known as Columbia Forest Products.
Columbia Plywood Presidential Scholarship
The Columbia Plywood Scholarship was established by contributions from the Columbia Plywood Company of Klamath Falls, Oregon, now known as Columbia Forest Products.
Craig Allen Blues Band Scholarship
The Craig Allen Blues Band Scholarship was established in 2007 by Craig Allen, alumnus of Oregon Tech, and the Craig Allen Blues Band. The band played to raise money for the fund on November 10, 2007 at the Ross Ragland Theater.
David Charles Elliott Memorial Scholarship
The David Charles Elliott Memorial Scholarship was created in 2002 by the Klamath Medical Service Bureau in memory of David Charles Elliott, long-time member of KMSB Board of Directors and founder of the investment firm, Elliott-Ledgerwood & Company, now known as South Valley Wealth Management in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
David L. Terhune Memorial Scholarship
The David L. Terhune Scholarship was established in 1997 in honor of the late David L. Terhune, who received the NAIA District II Meritorious Service Award in 1988 for his work and contributions to Oregon Tech Athletics.

David R. Kingsley Foundation Scholarship
The David R. Kingsley Foundation Scholarship was established in 2003 by the David R. Kingsley Foundation in honor of David R. Kingsley, WWII fighter pilot who gave his life to save the life of his comrades in battle.
David R. Kingsley Foundation Tech Assistance Award
The David R. Kingsley Foundation Tech Assistance Award was established by the David R. Kingsley Foundation to support students with disabilities at Oregon Tech.
Debbie Owen Memorial Scholarship
The Debbie Owen Memorial Scholarship was established in 2006 in memory of Debbie Owen by her friends and family.
Donald E. Emmons Memorial Scholarship
Donald Richard Wilson Memorial Scholarship
Donald Richard Wilson Memorial Scholarship was established by Earleen Clark on November 30, 2007.
Dorothy Schupp Trust Scholarship
The Dorothy Schupp Trust Scholarship was established in 2001 by the Dorothy Schupp Scholarships Trust.
Doug and Shelly Kintzinger Endowed Scholarship
Doug and Shelly Kintzinger Endowed Scholarship was established in 2005 by Nancy and Richard Wendt of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Dr. Chakarun Natural Sciences Scholarship
Dr. Chakarun Natural Sciences Scholarship was established in 2012 by Dr. Corey Chakarun. Dr. Chakarun graduated from OIT in 2002 with a B.S. in Health Sciences. He completed medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University and radiology residency at University of Southern California. The scholarship was created to provide assistance for students planning to attend medical school.
Dr. Kenneth L. Tuttle Medical Scholarship
Dr. Kenneth L. Tuttle Medical Scholarship was established in August of 2008, by the Tuttle family.
Dr. Sandra L. Sessom Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2009.
Dr. Timothy J. Stanaway Annual Scholarship
The Dr. Timothy J. Stanaway Annual Scholarship was established on November 18, 2008 by Gary Johnston.
Dr. Van Rudd Memorial Scholarship
Early Presidential Scholarship
The Early Presidential Scholarship was established in 1989 by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Early of Portland, Oregon.
Electro Scientific Industries Scholarship
The Electro Scientific Industries Scholarship was established in 2000 by the Electro Scientific Industries, Inc.
Ellingson Scholarship
The Ellingson Scholarship was established in 1988 by the Ellingson family in memory of R. Parcher and Myrtle T.N. Ellingson of Baker, Oregon.
Erlandson Scholarship
The Erlandson Scholarship was established in 1990 by Dr. and Mrs. Gordon Erlandson of Klamath Falls, Oregon. Dr. Erlandson was born in Minnesota and moved to Klamath Falls as a small boy. He graduated from the University of Oregon and attended medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. During WWII, Dr. Erlandson served in the army. After the war, he moved back to Klamath Falls where he established a pediatric practice and became an active member of the community. During his 26 years in practice, he was the first chief of staff at Merle West Medical center, which was called Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital at the time.
Eugene Favell Endowed Scholarship
The Eugene Favell Scholarship is one of three scholarships established by Eugene and Winifred Favell of Klamath Falls and Lakeview, Oregon. The first scholarship recipient was named in 1998.
F. Marshall Boker Memorial Scholarship
The F. Marshall Boker MemorialScholarship was established by Tyana Payne, Robert Payne, Steve Boker, and Nina and Ted Wright in memory of F. Marshall Boker to support students with an interest in the arts. Boker was raised in rural Nebraska and studied art at the Joslyn Memorial Art Museum. His painting of Mount Shasta can be seen hanging in the President's office on campus. Marshall created his art using a variety of media including oil, pencil, ink, acrylic, and water color.
Farr Scholarship
The Farr Scholarship was established in 1991 by retired business community members, Arthur and Trudy Farr of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Favell Museum of Western Art and Artifacts Scholarship
The Favell Museum of Western Art Scholarship is one of three scholarships established by Eugene and Winifred Favell of Klamath Falls and Lakeview, Oregon. The first scholarship recipient was named in 1998.
Florence Woerner and Nelle Killion Scholarship
The Florence Woerner and Nelle Killion Scholarship was established in 1997 by Nelle Killion. Nelle Killion passed at the age of 96 in 2003. She was born in Omaha, NB and moved to Klamath Falls in the 1940's. Nelle was the first woman at First National Bank of Oregon Klamath Falls branch to serve in the general loan officer position.
Frank F. Ganong Memorial Scholarship
The Frank F. Ganong Memorial Scholarship was established by the Klamath Medical Service Bureau of Klamath Falls, Oregon in memory of Frank F. Ganong, Klamath Falls businessman and realtor. Mr. Ganong served on the KMSB Board of Directors for more than 25 years. The KMSB president established the scholarship as a tangible way to recognize the leadership, foresight, and counsel that Frank gave to KMSB over the years.
Frankie Tiede Libby Memorial Scholarship
The Frankie Tiede Libby Memorial Scholarship was established in 1988 at the will of Frankie Tiede Libby on her passing January 14, 1988. Frankie Libby was the widow of Harland Libby, who served on Oregon Tech's State Advisory Council in the 1950's and 1960's. Harland Libby was prominent in national farm association circles.
Gilchrist High School Scholarship
The Gilchrist High School Presidential Scholarship was established by the Gilchrist Timber Company in 1988.
Harvey and Lina Curtis Memorial Scholarship
Established In 2010 by Lina Curtis.
Head and Hands Scholarship
The Head and Hands Scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. John Collins and Charlie Miller.
Head Scholarship
The Head Scholarship was established in by Kelly and Rocker Head in 2005.
Helen M. Nelson Scholarship
The Helen M. Nelson Scholarship was established in 2007 by prominent Sacramento businessman, Robert M. Cole and his wife Helen to enable students to receive an esteemed education at Oregon Tech.
Hill Scholarship
The Hill Scholarship was established in 1997 by an anonymous donor to provide assistance for non-traditional students attending Oregon Tech.
Hoffman Scholarship
The Hoffman Scholarship was established in 1996 by anonymous donors.
Howard and Ginger Morris Annual Scholarship
The Moore Memorial Scholarship was established in 1993 by Helen C. Kinney and Mary Jane Macartney in memory of their parents, Charles Langelle Moore (1887-1964) and Marguerite Dunbar Moore (1896-1989), both descended from Klamath County/Klamath Falls pioneer families.
Howard and Ginger Morris Endowed Scholarship
Howard and Ginger Morris established the Howard and Ginger Morris Scholarship in 2004 to assist a worthy student athlete who has demonstrated outstanding citizenship and moral character, inspirational leadership skills, average to outstanding academic and athletic ability and could be described as a "team player."
Howard served Oregon Tech for 30 years coaching football, wrestling, baseball and was the Athletic Director. Ginger was Team Mom to many student athletes and served leadership roles in Athletic Dept. Booster Club fundraising efforts.
Huckins Presidential Scholarship
The Huckins Presidential Scholarship was established in 1985 by Oregon Tech alumnus Charlie Huckins and his wife, Joanne, of Portland, Oregon.
Hyde Memorial Scholarship
The Hyde Memorial Scholarship was established on November 6, 2007 by Gerda Hyde, Chair of the Oregon Tech Foundation Scholarship Committee.
Idro and Eda Bonotto Memorial Scholarship
The Idro and Eda Bonotto Memorial Scholarship was established by anonymous donors in memory of Idro and Eda Bonotto.
International Athletic Scholarship
International Game Technology (IGT) Scholarship
The International Game Technology Scholarship was established in 2001 by the International Game Technology Corporation.
J.W. Kerns Endowed Scholarship
The J.W. Kerns Scholarship was established in 2004 by J.W. Kerns Irrigation Company.
James and Velma Emmi Foundation Scholarship For Excellence in Engineering
Established by the James and Velma Emmi Foundation in 1992. The purpose of the Foundation is to help re-establish the preeminence of the United States in the fields of science, engineering, and technology and the restoration of our manufacturing excellence, which was formerly unsurpassed by any nation in the world. The scholarship will provide assistance to worthy students who will contribute to the fulfillment of the Foundation's objective.
JELD-WEN Foundation Annual Scholarship
The JELD-WEN Foundation Annual Scholarship was established by the JELD-WEN Foundation in support of Klamath County students attending Oregon Tech.
JELD-WEN Presidential Scholarship
The JELD-WEN Presidential Scholarship was established by the JELD-WEN Foundation.
Jesse Crabtree and Leo Ferroni Scholarship
The Jesse Crabtree and Leo Ferroni Scholarship was established by Leo Ferroni, an engineering graduate, to recognize the outstanding teaching and mentoring of Jesse Crabtree, Oregon Tech faculty member from 1951-1981.
Jessee "Mr. Peanuts" Barker Scholarship
The Jessee "Mr. Peanuts" Barker Scholarship was established by the Pelican Elementary student turned volunteer, Oregon Tech alum and long-time Jeld-Wen employee to help underprivileged students from Pelican Elementary obtain an education at Oregon Tech.
JFR Foundation Scholarship
The JFR Foundation is a family foundation based in Portland that supports organizations working toward the betterment of Oregon communities.
Johanna Louise Thom Memorial Scholarship
The Johanna Louise Thom Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Mrs. Thom by her son Theodore Thom in 2002. Johanna was born in 1901 in North Dakota, the second of nine children. She attended State Teachers College in Valley City, North Dakota and taught in a one-room school house in Stutsman County for six years. During World War II, Mrs. Thom was involved in the manufacture of B-17 aircraft for Boeing. In 1945 Mrs. Thom and her husband moved to Lake Pend Dorille, Idaho and opened a fishing resort called the Red Fur Lodge. In 1967 Johanna and her husband moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon.
John and Caroline Fowler Memorial Presidential Scholarship
The John and Caroline Fowler Memorial Presidential Scholarship was established in 1991 by friends and family as a living memorial. The late John Fowler belonged to many civic groups in Klamath Falls and served on the Oregon Tech Foundation Board of Trustees.
John and Joan Staunton Annual Scholarship
The Staunton Annual Scholarship was established by Jon and Joan Staunton to support students pursuing a health degree at Oregon Tech and in support of the new Martha Anne Dow Center for Health Professions on campus.
John and Joan Staunton Endowed Scholarship
The Staunton Scholarship was established in 2002 by John and Joan Staunton of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
John and Lois Stilwell Scholarship
John was born in Klamath Falls and later moved to Minneapolis where he met Lois. We both spent most of our working careers there and moved back to Klamath Falls in 2002 to retire. We believe in the importance of higher education and want to provide support to committed, goal oriented Oregon Tech students, hoping to make a difference in the quality of their lives. We enjoy Oregon Tech sports and have met many wonderful student athletes, thus giving a preference to athletes.
John and Mildred Merryman Memorial Scholarship
The John and Mildred Merryman Memorial Scholarship was established by Barb Dekalb in 2001 in memory of John and Mildred Merryman.
John S. McMillan Memorial Scholarship
The John S. McMillan Scholarship was established by anonymous donors in memory of John S. McMillan.
Jon Schnebly and Laurie Goolsby Scholarship
The Jon Schnebly and Laurie Goolsby Scholarship was established at the will of Jon Schnebly and Laurie Goolsby of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Joseph F. Porter Jr. Memorial Scholarship
The Joseph F. Porter Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established by Drs. Jon and Joan Wayland of Klamath Falls, Oregon, in memory of Joseph F. Porter Jr. who had extended help to Jon Wayland in obtaining his education. Dr. Wayland describes Mr. Porter as a very prominent businessman in Kansas City who was a teacher in the best sense with a focus on improving the young by means of summer employment in his various businesses as well as through scholarships granted through the Arrow Foundation, his personal charity.

Kerns and Helen Spears Scholarship
The Kerns and Helen Spears Scholarship was established in the 1980's by the late Kerns Spears and his wife, Helen, of Grants Pass, Oregon to help young people better themselves.
Kitty White Memorial Scholarship
The Kitty White Memorial Scholarship was established by the South Valley Bank and Trust in memory of Kitty White who was an avid booster of Oregon Tech and other community endeavors.
Klamath Basin Scholarship
The Klamath Basin Scholarship was established in 2003 by contributions from the Klamath Basin Scholarship Campaign.
Klamath Cattlewomen's Association Scholarship
The Klamath Cattlewomen's Association Scholarship was established in 2002 by the Klamath County Cattlewomen's Association in memory of Ruth Obenchain.
Klamath Country Flycasters Scholarship
Klamath Falls Women's Club Scholarship
The Klamath Falls Women's Club Scholarship was established in 2000 by the Klamath Falls Women's Club.
Klamath First Federal Scholarship
The Klamath First Federal Scholarship was established in 1988 by Klamath First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Klamath Falls, Oregon to support education in the field of business in Klamath County.
Klamath Racing Association Scholarship
The Klamath Racing Association Scholarship was established in 1987 by the Klamath Racing Association.
Krautscheid Family Scholarship in Manufacturing Engineering Technology
John and Jean Krautscheid have funded the Krautscheid Endowed Scholarship to show their appreciation for the help their sons received while attending OIT. We had nine children, eight with at least a bachelor’s degree. We are thankful that they had the chance for an education and we are trying to help other deserving young men and women on their way to an education. We have established scholarships in the other schools that our other children graduated from as well. Our biggest thrill each year is meeting these very bright and deserving students.
Kuonen Scholarship
The Kuonen Scholarship was established by Frank and Nell Kuonen in 2000.
Lake Washington Vascular Scholarship
The Lake Washington Vascular Scholarship was established on August 20, 2007 by Lake Washington Vascular, medical imaging extern partner with Oregon Tech, to support students pursuing a degree in medical imaging.
Laubengayer Presidential Scholarship
The Laubengayer Presidential Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Richard Laubengayer in 1992.
Leo Bocchi Memorial Scholarship
The Leo Bocchi Memorial Scholarship was established in 1988 in memory of Leo Bocchi, co-owner of Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Klamath Falls, Oregon, by his friends at Pepsi-Cola and his wife, Marge Bocchi.
LeVernois Presidential Scholarship
The LeVernois Presidential Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Earle LeVernois of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Lowell and Duffie Kenyon Scholarship
The Lowell and Duffie Kenyon Scholarship was established in 2000 by Lowell and Duffie Kenyon of Klamath Falls, OR.
MacKay & Sposito, Inc. Veteran's Support Council Scholarship
Recipient must be an honorably or medically discharged veteran of the United States Military or active Military Reservist or National Guardsman.
Margaret Reid Memorial Scholarship
The Margaret Reid Memorial Scholarship was established by friends and family of Margaret Reid in her memory. Margie was born in Lincoln, NB and came to Klamath Falls in 1968. She served in several public health nursing roles and eventually became the Klamath County Home Health Agency Coordinator. In 1981, Margie started working as an instructor in the Department of Nursing at Oregon Tech. She retired after over 15 years of teaching in 1997.
Marie DeHoog Memorial Scholarship
The Marie DeHoog Memorial Scholarship was established by James DeHoog in memory of Maire, an Oregon Tech Medical Imaging Technology student.
Mark and Karen Wendt Endowed Scholarship
The Mark and Karen Wendt Endowed Scholarship was established by Nancy Wendt in October of 2005.

The Mercy Medical Center Scholars Program-Medical Imaging Scholarship was established on September 4, 2007 the by Mercy Medical Center Foundation to support Mercy Medical Center employees and family members of employees seeking to pursue a degree in medical imaging at Oregon Institute of Technology.
Mike Snider Memorial Scholarship
The Mike Snider Memorial Scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Snider in memory of their son, Mike.
Moore Memorial Scholarship
The Moore Memorial Scholarship was established in 1993 by Helen C. Kinney and Mary Jane Macartney in memory of their parents, Charles Langell Moore (1887-1964) and Marguerite Dunbar Moore (1896-1989), both descended from Klamath County/Klamath Falls pioneer families.
Nancy B. Coffin Endowed Scholarship
The Nancy B. Coffin Scholarship was established by in 2002 Nancy Coffin of Klamath Falls, Oregon to provide financial assistance to deserving students and make a difference in a student's life.

Northwest Chapter of the Oregon Tech Alumni Association Scholarship
The Northwest Chapter of the Oregon Tech Alumni Association Scholarship was established in 2000 by contributions from the NW Chapter of the Oregon Tech Alumni Association.
Novak Scholarship
The Novak Scholarship was established in 1997 by John J. and Ann Novak.
NW Natural Scholarship
Established for deserving students pursuing a degree at Oregon Institute of Technology. The scholarship supports first generation students from the NW Natural service areas; Western Washington, Oregon Willamette Valley (Portland, south to Springfield), the Columbia region (Astoria west to the Dalles), Newport, Lincoln City and Coos Bay.
OIT Faculty, Staff and Retirees Scholarship
The OIT Faculty, Staff and Retirees Scholarship was established in 2002 with contributions from faculty, staff and retirees of the Oregon Institute of Technology.
OIT Women Associates Scholarship
The OIT Women's Associates Scholarship was established in 1997 by the OIT Women's Associates.
Olivia Nicole Cortez Memorial Scholarship
The Olivia Nicole Cortez Memorial Scholarship was established by the 2010 Nuclear Medicine class in honor of their late friend, Olivia Nicole Cortez.
Oregon Society of Radiologic Technologists Scholarship
The Oregon Society of Radiologic Technologists Scholarship was established in 2006 by Robbyn Scriven, President of the society to assist radiologic science students at Oregon Tech.
Oregon Tech Alumni Association Scholarship
The first alumni scholarship was established in 1997 by the Oregon Tech Alumni Association Board of Directors to encourage Oregon Tech student retention. The scholarship is funded by alumni donors.
Oregon Tech Alumni Board Scholarship
The Oregon Tech Alumni Board Scholarship was established in 2007 by Alumni Board President Scott Blower, and funded through contributions of members of the Alumni Board.
Orva Beard Memorial Scholarship
The Orva Beard Memorial Scholarship was established in 1992 at the will of Mrs. Orva Beard. Mrs. Beard lived in Klamath Falls on High Street while she attended Riverside High School. She was a woman ahead of her time with a very successful insurance and real estate business in the 30's, 40's and 50's.
Pacific Power Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship for first generation college students from communities served by the Pacific Power Foundation: Oregon, Central/Southeastern Washington, Northern California, Utah, Wyoming and Southeastern Idaho.
Patty Landrum Scholarship
The Patty Landrum Scholarship was established by the Patty Landrum Scholarships Trust.
Phillips Presidential Scholarship
The Phillips Presidential Scholarship was established in 1984 by Elbert H. Phillips, brother of Wayne Phillips, a retired Oregon Tech faculty member.
Portland Scholarship
The Portland Scholarship was established by contributions from the Boeing Corporation.
Richard H. Zbinden Scholarship
The Richard H. Zbinden Scholarship was established by contributions from Zbinden, Carter, Souders Engineering, Inc. of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Robert and Cynthia DeRosier Scholarship

Skip Fox Memorial Scholarship
The Skip Fox Memorial Scholarship was established in 1988 by the Portland Metro Tool and Die Association in memory of R.M. "Skip" Fox. Skip helped to found the Portland Metro Tool and Die Association in 1980. He also established an apprenticeship program at Clackamas Community College and was committed to teaching young people the skills of his trade.
