Learning Communities
What is a Learning Community?
- Students who are registered in two or more classes together
- Supported by two or more faculty who work together to coordinate the learning between classes
- The purpose is to: 1) establish student-student and student-faculty connections, 2) make friends, 3) feel comfortable in a new environment, and 4) form study groups and help each other learn
- Research has shown that students in Learning Communities tend to: 1) have higher GPAs, 2) complete college in fewer terms, and 3) report a higher level of satisfaction with college
