When is rehearsal and do I have to attend?

Rehearsal is mandatory; graduates should report to Owens Hall on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Blue signs will be posted and there will be faculty marshals to direct the graduates to their respective places in the procession. The School of Engineering, Technology and Management will line up outside of Owens Hall. The School of Health, Arts and Sciences will line up inside of Owens Hall.

Do I need to bring my cap and gown to rehearsal?

No, street clothes are okay for the rehearsal. You will need your cap and gown on graduation day.

What time does commencement begin and where will the ceremony be held?

The ceremony is held at the John F. Moehl Stadium and begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014. The stadium is located on the north side of the Oregon Tech campus by the track/field.

What time do graduates need to arrive for commencement?

Graduates should report to Owens Hall by 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014. Signs will be posted for each major and there will be faculty marshals to direct the graduates to their respective places in the procession.

Do I need tickets?

No, tickets are not needed for the ceremony, except for handicapped seating. You may bring as many family members and friends as you like. Stadium seating is first-come, first-serve.

Is handicapped parking and seating available?

Yes, handicapped parking and seating are available. Please request a handicapped parking permit or seating tickets from the Registrar’s Office on, or prior to, rehearsal day; email registrar@oit.edu or call 541.885.1301. There will be designated handicapped parking available behind John. F. Moehl Stadium. Handicapped seating is available on a first-come first-serve basis. Parking permits and seating tickets will be distributed immediately after rehearsal.

Where do we park and do we need a parking permit?

You may park in any Oregon Tech designated parking lot. Handicapped parking is available behind John F. Moehl Stadium; please request a handicapped permit from the Registrar’s Office on, or prior to, rehearsal day.

What do I wear to commencement?

All graduates are required to wear an academic cap and gown. Cap, gown, and tassels may be purchased in The Tech Nest bookstore in the College Union. We suggest that graduates wear business-casual clothing underneath their gowns.

May I bring a purse etc. to graduation?

No, please leave purses and other items with family members.

What happens if it rains on commencement day?

We will provide rain gear to graduates and ask that graduates do not bring umbrellas.

How long does the ceremony usually last?

Commencement is approximately two hours long and is generally over by 12:15 p.m.

Can I leave as soon as I get my diploma?

No, graduates are dismissed at the end of the commencement ceremony and will exit formally to meet family members and friends by the fountain.
