Why did you choose Oregon Tech?
Oregon Tech offered me a great scholarship package and the opportunity to stay close to my friends and family. I am carrying on an Oregon Tech tradition as well, since both my parents are Oregon Tech alums.
What do you like best about your major?
I like the interdisciplinary nature of Communication Studies and the opportunity to see theory at work in real-life situations. I like that it is both academic and practical and meshes well with other disciplines. With my foundation in Communication Studies, I feel confident to write compelling documents, deliver powerful presentations, and conduct quality research wherever I go.
What would be your dream job in your major?
My dream job would be coaching and consulting people who want to boost their effectiveness in their personal and professional lives by developing better organizational, interpersonal, and conflict management skills and increasing their self-confidence. Drawing on the base of communications and dispute resolution, I want to help people feel ready for any situation.
What’s your favorite thing to do off campus?
Klamath Falls has a lot to offer, so I like to take advantage of its diverse options. Anything ranging from patronizing local restaurants, playing a round of disc golf at Moore Park, watching the sailboats on the lake, to going bargain hunting at Basin Book Trader and weekend yard sales make my off-campus time interesting.
What’s your most memorable moment on campus?
My most memorable time on campus was when I had four different part-time on-campus jobs. I was tutoring for CFLAT, doing office work for the Geo Heat Center, grading papers, and filming speeches for Speech 111 students. The fun and challenge of balancing the workload while learning about so many subjects makes that time very memorable.
