Alumnus, Class of 2009

Why did you choose Oregon Tech?

After graduation I would like to design community power generation stations using local resources.

What do you like best about your major?

As you go through this degree, I think it’s important to stay grounded, be true to yourself, and observe an ascetic’s rejection of everything and a monk’s embrace of nothing.

What would be your dream job in your major?

My Senior Project is to transform the brute mechanical power of the micro-hydro turbine by Timothy Bailey, into purified electrical power. This task involves selecting an appropriate generator and designing the necessary power controls to ensure the signal is grid compatible.

What’s your favorite thing to do off campus?

I chose to come to OIT Portland for the glamour of studying Renewable Energy.
