Sept. 10, 2013, KLAMATH FALLS, ORE. – Oregon Institute of Technology received superior rankings in U.S. News and World Report’s survey of undergraduate programs – “Best Colleges 2014” – released today. The report shows Oregon Tech as No. 6 among best baccalaureate colleges in the Western Region. The university also earned the No. 2 spot for Top Public Regional Colleges and No. 45 as Best Undergraduate Engineering program.
In the Best Regional Colleges category, Oregon Tech received the second highest peer assessment score among its peers. The Western Region is comprised of colleges in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
U.S. News ranks undergraduate engineering programs accredited by ABET based on a survey of engineering deans and senior faculty at all accredited programs. Oregon Tech earned a No. 45 ranking in the nation, sharing the spot with California Maritime Academy, New York Institute of Technology, and Northern Arizona University, among others.

U.S. News & World Report bases the overall university rankings, which have been published annually since 1983, on a number of criteria, including peer assessment, retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rates, and alumni giving. Highlights of the rankings of more than 1,500 four-year schools in the United States are available today at www.usnews.com/colleges and the 2014 “Best Colleges” guidebook will appear on newsstands Sept. 24.
The university is no stranger to accolades. Oregon Tech was also ranked among the top 20 percent of all four-year and graduate universities in the U.S. byForbes’ magazine annual ranking of Top Colleges and as one of the Top 25 Colleges for Best Return on Investment by AdvisorOne.
