Portland for Residency Options A & B
Distance Education with 6 one-week intensive Residency periods in Portland (Executive Option C, offered 2014/15)
Master of Science in Renewable Energy Engineering (MSREE)
The Master of Science in Renewable Energy Engineering (MSREE) program is offered at OIT-Portland (Wilsonville Campus). The MSREE program accommodates both full-time students and working professionals. The MSREE program is designed to prepare graduates to be energy engineering professionals who have advanced knowledge and skills that enable them to assume a broad range of technical leadership roles.
The MSREE curriculum is built upon core tracks in research methods & innovation and advanced energy engineering. These courses provide the foundation for three required specialized course sequences in renewable energy technologies and nine credits of thesis or graduate R&D project work.
Application for Admissions
We are currently receiving applications for Fall 2013 for Options A and B. Oregon Tech encourages all prospective applicants to submit graduate application materials six months in advance of the planned enrollment date. Priority admission and Graduate Assistantships will be given to applications submitted by March 1st, but applications will be accepted up to May 1st for International Students and up to July 1st for US permanent residents. It is highly recommended applications be submitted as soon as possible.
MSREE Program Formats
All options require completion of 54 quarter credit hours over a minimum of two academic years. The following options are available to the Fall 2013 cohort.
- Option A - Traditional Full-Time Residency Program (day courses 3-4 days/week)
- Option B - Full-time Residency Program for Working Professionals (evening courses, 3 days/week)
Option A is designed for full-time students. Competitive Graduate Assistantships are available to support MSREE candidates as Teaching Assistants or Research Assistants. Options B and C are designed to enable working professionals to earn a MS in Renewable Energy Engineering (MSREE) from Oregon Tech without taking a break from their careers.
Our executive MSREE students (Option C) meet the same admission requirements, follow the same curriculum and standards, receive the same degree, receive the same program services, and study with the same faculty as students in our traditional, full-time MSREE program. Participants attend the OIT-Portland campus 1 week in September, 1 week in January, and 1 week in April for accelerated extended sessions (Thursday-Sunday) to receive faculty intensive instruction on the critical core topics at the beginning of each quarter, and complete the reminder of the course requirements, projects, and research through online distance learning between residencies.
Option C is ideal for out-of-state and international working professionals desiring to obtain the MSREE degree without having to relocate.
