I am the President of the ASME Student section at OIT Portland, and also a member of Sigma Alpha Pi.
After graduation I would like to Work in research and development to improve energy efficiencies. Specifically, the capturing and concentrating of thermal energy from the sun to power HVAC systems.
At OIT I like The intense nature of the class room time. There is no "fluff",as the lesson is presented. Secondly, Staff and Faculty, are focused on the providing the student with the tools to succeed.
My MET415 design project that required building an AC/DC power supply, converting a 6 wire stepper motor to 4 wire motor controller and writing the PLC program to automate the operation of the linear actuator. My MET 492 senior project, built with my team, a parabolic cylinder with dual axis tracking to follow the sun’s travel through the changes in day and seasons to capture thermal energy. This system has been able to produce hot water at a temperature of 140 degrees F. My Senior project is available through the OIT Library's Senior Project repository pilot project.
