Innovator Club

Mike Andrews, Currently employed by Xerox, has an Associates  in CSET from Oregon tech, Kalamath Falls. He is Enrolled at Oregon Tech Wilsonville in the Embedded Systems program. Mike would like to start an Innovator Club at Oregon Tech Wilsonville. He will be on campus each Saturday of the term to display his 3-D printer.

The 3-D printer uses PLA and ABS in any color are the raw materials used poly lactic acid thermoplastic alphetic. Made from biomass starches.

The machine's original design was based off printer bot. During the development of this printer, Mike sourced some of the motors and components from other printers and robot prototypes.

A Printrboard RevD is used to control the stepper motors that drive the multiple axis system.

The Polylactic acid or polylactide (PLA) used by the printer is a thermoplastic aliphatic polyester. The material is derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch (in the United States), tapioca roots, chips or starch (mostly in Asia), or sugarcane.

Some samples of items Mike has created with his 3-D printer.

Mike prints the 3-D objects from his laptop PC using Slic3r 3-D printing software.
