Why did you choose Oregon Tech?

I have a passion for renewable energy. Oregon Tech is the first school in North America to offer degrees dedicated to renewable energy engineering. Also, I had heard about how beautiful Oregon is and I wanted to explore Oregon's nature.

What do you like most about your program?

I like the focus on key renewable energy topics such as solar power, energy storage and other topics. Also, program prepares students to tackle real-life issues and situations. I also like the close interaction between students and professors.

What are you passionate about changing within this particular field and why?

Applying renewable energy technologies has been hampered by cost issues and political considerations. I would like to see prices fall down enough for renewable energy technologies to be even more competitive in the energy market. I would also like to see a political atmosphere that is more embracing to renewable energy in my county, Egypt, and around the world.

What would be your dream job?

Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy in Egypt.

What have been some of your favorite classes and why?

I liked the solar sequence very much. I acquired a lot of valuable information on solar energy and photovoltaics.

Is there anything about Oregon Tech that you wish everyone knew about?

We have advanced equipment for manufacturing and testing of photovoltaic panels and batteries.

Do you have employment/graduate school plans for after graduation?

I would like to have a job in solar industry. At some point down the road I would like to enroll in a PhD program related to energy and/or sustainability.
