Why did you choose Oregon Tech?

I chose Oregon Tech because I live local and wanted to use my GI bill®, but didn’t want to waste it on a random degree as I already have a degree in nuclear engineering.  Renewable energy engineering is a field with great promise for the future; if I choose to re-enter the workforce when I complete my degree. I’m using the information I gain to help reduce my carbon foot print and eventually be able to live fully off the grid, energy companies are too greedy and I want to be out from under their thumb.

What do you like most about your program?

What I do like about OIT in general is the class size and eagerness of professors to help and be involved.

What are you passionate about changing within this particular field and why?

I would like to bring new technologies and ideas towards expedition type operations.  This would help reduce the carbon footprint and make energy management much easier in remote places such as the Himalayas and Patagonia.

What would be your dream job?

My dream job is to not work, but if I had the opportunity I would like to start something along the lines of an adventure camp carbon footprint reduction consulting. Consult with major expedition funders and companies to give them tools necessary to reduce their footprint.

What have been some of your favorite classes and why?

Math classes are my favorite because they are straight forward.  Either you know it or you don’t, and you don’t have to write papers.

Is there anything more that you would like to share with future students about campus, what you wish you knew before attending Oregon Tech or anything else?

The hiking in this area is superb but I already knew that, I just wish more people knew that.
