Why did you choose Oregon Tech?

When looking for schools to attend, I was hoping to go the West Coast, and that's when I learned about Oregon Tech. I chose Oregon Tech because it is well-known for its Renewable Energy Engineering Program, being one of the first to be ABET Accredited.

What do you like most about your major?

There are a lot of things I like about my major. The main thing would be what it has equipped me with. As a graduate of the Renewable Energy Engineering program, I am equipped with the necessary knowledge to affect real change in the world and help save our planet by utilizing alternative energy resources that are abundant but not efficiently employed.

What are you passionate about changing within this particular field and why?

I would like to increase awareness regarding renewable energy, and help make it available for more people. By integrating more renewable energy sources, and making more people aware of their benefits, we can significantly reduce our footprint on the environment.

What would be your dream job?

My dream job would be a power systems engineer, where I get to design and implement more renewable and efficient power systems.

What have been some of your favorite classes and why?

Electronics classes would be my favorite classes. After taking the first electronics class, I realized that I like the electrical side of renewable engineering the most, and decided to dual in renewable and electrical engineering.

Is there anything about Oregon Tech that you wish everyone knew about?

Oregon Tech, even if it is a small school has a lot to offer! Everyone is supportive and helpful. It is one great family I'm proud to be a part of!

Are you involved on campus? If so, how?

Yes, I am! I have been an active member of the international club since I started school. I served as the President of the club in 2015 - 2016 academic year. I worked as an office assistant in the international student services for more than two years. This past year, I served as the student representative in the International Committee, the Corresponding Secretary for the Engineering Honor Society, and the Student Director of the Diversity Center. I was in charge of coordinating and planning the engineer’s week 2017 activities.

Do you have employment/graduate school plans for after graduation?

I am currently interviewing for graduate school and some jobs. My hope is to get accepted at Masdar Institute of Science and Technology to study power engineering, and work at the same time to gain hands-on experience.

Is there anything more that you would like to share with future students about campus, what you wish you knew before attending Oregon Tech or anything else?

There are a lot of resources dedicated to see students succeed! If you need help, all you have to do is ask! The four years you will spend at Oregon Tech will be ones of the best of your life, where you will get to learn about what you are passionate about, and meet and make friends from all around the world!
