Oregon Tech is the PLTW affiliate university in the state of Oregon.  We also support PLTW in Idaho, Washington, Nevada and California.

History of PLTW at Oregon Tech:

Since the inception of PLTW at Oregon Tech in 2006, we have trained 287 teachers from all over the US.

As the only Project Lead The Way Affiliate University in Oregon, Oregon Tech has the following goals and outcomes that it pursues and works to achieve:

  • General awareness of the importance of STEM education and how to implement PLTW.
  • Provide comprehensive and proven curriculums for high schools and middle schools in areas such as Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, Gateway to Technology, and Engineering Design and Development.
  • Offer University credits to students for PLTW courses taken in high school.
  • Train the instructors in the different areas during summer institutes at Oregon Tech.
  • Support a network of PLTW High Schools and Middle Schools in Oregon and Idaho.
  • Perform certification visits and actively recruits new schools.
  • Offer yearly counselor training to inform them about PLTW and advising students.
  • Look for ways to connect industry, funding agencies and schools for financial support.
  • Encourage high school and middle schools to prepare for and pursue a college degree.
