Coordinator, Academic Advising and Retention, College of Health, Arts, and Sciences

I’m Michael Moghtader. It’s nice to meet you.

In July 2021 I started in a position new to OIT to coordinate academic advising and retention efforts for students and faculty in the College of Health, Arts, and Sciences.

My first career was a tenured English professor at James Madison University in Virginia, (2003-18). I then migrated into academic advising as Academic Advising Coordinating for JMU’s College of Education (2018-21).

My role here at OIT blends my formal and experiential knowledge as teacher, researcher, and administrator in higher education. Essentially, I’m here to support the professional relationship between Oregon Tech students in HAS and their primary/faculty advisors. That relationship is critically important to Oregon Tech's mission: To equip students with “hands-on education for real-world achievement.” Our advising support facilitates that mission so our students graduate in a timely fashion and participate meaningfully in their local and global communities, both professional and personal.

If you have questions or support, please feel free to contact me. You may find additional help at our Academic Advising & Resources page
