Iris Godwin, Head of Special Collections and University Archives

 LRC214

I have been a faculty member of Oregon Tech for over a decade. In my current position, I provide guidance and instruction to staff on archival collection management and access that includes using best practices of the profession. I work with the Shaw Board of Governors and the Oregon Tech Foundation in reference to collection development and management for the Shaw Historical Library. For the University Archives, I work with the various campus departments, student organizations, and the Records Management Department in growing the collections of the archives. Our latest large - digital collection added is the Oregon Tech Owler Yearbooks. The Oregon Tech’s 75th anniversary will be celebrated during the year 2022-2023!

My experience includes the development of evidence-based instruction in the allied health and nursing programs; providing subject guides for my liaison departments; constructing description in an international catalog for print, electronic, and digital collections of the libraries; and serving on the Libraries leadership team. Previously, I worked in various positions at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville Library and the Special Collections and Archives units before coming to Oregon Tech in 2007.
