Why did you choose Oregon Tech?

I chose Oregon Tech because I wanted to boost my knowledge in a hands-on learning environment and secure a stable career. Oregon Tech offers a Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Science, one of the only schools to reputably do so on the West Coast. With its partnership with Sky Lakes Hospital, Oregon Tech allows its medical students to perform observations in our fields of study. Also, Oregon Tech is a campus that is open to growth; it evolves with the time and the needs of a student entering a technologically-dependent society.

What do you like best about your major?

As a sophomore in the Radiologic Science Program, I enjoy being involved with the on campus Radiologic Science Club and spending time in the state-of-the-art laboratory suites. The faculty is supportive with both academic and non-academic goals; doing their best to help students exceed their potential. And, the best part is, all of this is done with like-minded and dedicated students.

What would be your dream job in your major?

Throughout my life, I have sustained four concussions and all of them played a part in finding my passion and career: healthcare. My dream job would be to become a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Tech that is specialized in imaging Brain Trauma. With this, I could bridge my volunteer service of Athletic Concussion Awareness and education with my career.

What’s your favorite thing to do off campus?

I love to spend time outdoors! Klamath is wonderful for bird watching, hiking, camping, boating, bonfires, snowy activities, and so much more. Crater Lake National Park is less than two hours away…and also, just over the hill there is enough tax-free shopping to satisfy anything that the heart desires.

What’s your most memorable moment on campus?

This year, fellow medical student Megan Cook and I hosted Oregon Tech’s First Annual Mr. OIT Pageant benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. We raised over $650 for this phenomenal organization in addition to a $500 scholarship for our winner. This was a great event and definitely one of my favorite moments on campus thus far.
