A Little Bit About Me
I grew up in Saipan, an island located in the Northern Mariana Islands, which is a U.S. Territory below Japan. My entire educational life has been in one school: Grace Christian Academy, and as the name states, it is a private Christian school. I studied there for 14 years of my life, so preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school were all in the same school. Throughout high school, while trying to figure out what I wanted to pursue, I initially thought it was going to be science, but I did not enjoy the lab reports and certain complexities in each science field. The decision to turn into “technological science” occurred as I was making a lab report on a laptop with my lab partners, they noticed how fond I was of the way programs worked and suggested I take that path.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose Oregon Tech because it felt like a school that would be more accepting of who I am and who I want to become. The reason for selecting software engineering is related to my love for video games. By obtaining the knowledge of what goes behind those games and software, I would not only be proud of being able to create working programs, but also provide positive change for others.
My Influential Professors
My most influential teacher from my high school years was my senior year homeroom and AP English language and literature teacher. She has given me skills of understanding and comprehension that I have adapted into real life as well, and the encouragement that constantly radiated from her for her students always inspired me to do my best.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
My greatest learning experience involves patience and perseverance as I used to struggle with this for myself and others for a long period of time. Patience with myself and those around me and the perseverance to continue no matter what path I’m on leads me to greater results than I could ever imagine. Unique qualities I would bring to my studies would be my adaptability and my memory capability.
My Plans After Graduation
My plans include helping my family financially and bringing more innovation into my island home. I plan to use my degree to bring joy or improvement into the world.
