Student, Class of 2018

Why did you decide to study abroad?

I had always wanted to go to Japan, and I was thinking about working there someday. Going abroad is a great way to visit a new country and my trip was a good test run to see if living in Japan was the right choice for me.

What was the thing you struggled with the most?

I think the language barrier was the hardest part of my trip. I had studied Japanese for a few years in high school but it had been a while sense I had practiced. Next time I go I want to make sure that I am more proficient in the language.

What was the most memorable thing about your experience?

My entire trip was memorable. I was able to do a lot of things and I had an amazing time with my host family.

Would you advise other students to study abroad?

Yes. If there is somewhere you have always wanted to visit or see, going abroad is a great way to get integrated in a community and to really experience different cultures.

What would you like us to know about you?

I enjoy working on 3D puzzles and Sudoku. I am an Electrical Engineering major, hoping to one day work with Disney and create interactive and educational games for children and adults.
