A Little Bit About Me
I am majoring in Biology Health Science, and I have the end goal of becoming a Physician Assistant. I grew up in Springfield, Oregon, where most of my family still lives. I have participated in several community service acts, both back home and here in Klamath Falls. I was a daycare teacher for my local church for a couple of years. I have also participated in the Health Science Club at Oregon Tech for the last couple of years. This year, I ran for an officer position and received the title of secretary for the club. I am also a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, a pre-med honor society. These experiences have all pushed me to continue to put my studies first.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
While looking at different colleges to attend, Oregon Tech has always been my first choice. I had heard nothing but good things about the school. Originally, my major was going to be pre-nursing, but a couple of weeks before I started at Oregon Tech, I switched to Biology Health Sciences. I have always wanted to work in the medical field because I have a passion for helping people in any way that I can.
My Influential Professors
Out of all of the professors that I have worked with in my college career, the most influential professor that I have was Dr. Gandhi. I have taken BIO 213 and microbiology, both courses had a lab component with him. Both of these courses I would consider to be the most difficult courses that I have taken at Oregon Tech. Both courses required vigorous note-taking and hours of study time. Even though they both required a lot of effort and time, I can truly say that they were my favorite courses. Dr. Gandhi taught the content in a very straightforward way that I was able to retain and apply to my everyday life.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
Throughout my time here at Oregon Tech, there have been several experiences that have changed me. My freshman year I found it difficult to adjust to the new environment, especially with Zoom. It was definitely a struggle to get used to this new way of teaching. The world in which COVID was what our learning revolved around was very trialing. Even though it was difficult, I am truly blessed that I got to experience it. It provided me with better study habits and prompted me to step outside of my comfort zone when applicable.
My Plans After Graduation
As of right now, I plan to graduate from Oregon Tech in 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology Health Science. With my degree, I plan to apply to Physician Assistant programs all over the United States. I haven’t decided if I would like to obtain a specialty as a PA or not, but I would really love to work with pediatrics or even work in gynecology. I love children and I believe that working with them in my career would be truly amazing.
