Why did you choose Oregon Tech?
I choose Oregon Tech because when it comes to education smaller is better. I love the one on one interaction with my instructors here at Oregon Tech. Plus how can you beat Oregon?
What do you like most about your program?
To me the Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) degree is the best balance between practical experience and theory. As an MET major I get to choose between Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MFG) elective classes such as CNC Machining (Computer Numerical Control) and Mechanical Engineering (MECH) courses such as Parametric Modeling better known as Solidworks.
What are you passionate about changing within this particular field and why?
I am passionate about re-inventing what people think is possible. Specifically, in the metal fabrication industry, by using modern technology and automation to push the limits of what is possible in fabrication today.
What would be your dream job?
My dream job is to own my own precision metal fabrication and machine shop that specializes in achieving the impossible. Specifically, in the custom metal fabrication industry. This could be automotive based, industrial, or both.
What have been some of your favorite classes and why?
Sean Sloan’s Fluid Mechanics (MECH 318) class was hands down my favorite class so far. It was in this class that I discovered the true value of mathematics by learning how to control water and other fluids, something I previously knew nothing about, through the use of mathematics.
Are you involved on campus? If so, how?
The Catalyze Klamath Falls Competition last year was how I was involved on campus. This year it is though leading my own senior projects team of 7 (myself included) that I stay involved on campus.
Have you participated in any internships or externships during your time at Oregon Tech? Did you gain valuable experience from them?
Although I have not done any internship while at Oregon Tech, I have started two businesses and the experience has been invaluable. Currently I own and operate MOG Metalworks & Design and have found Klamath Falls to be an exceptional community for startups.
Do you have employment/graduate school plans for after graduation?
I will more than likely take on a part or full-time engineering job while continuing to grow my business MOG Metalworks & Design.
Is there anything more that you would like to share with future students about campus, what you wish you knew before attending Oregon Tech or anything else?
Take the time to get to know your instructors! They are all great people that truly want the best for their students!
Don’t be afraid to take risks. Oregon Tech is a great place to push yourself to become a top performer.
