Awards/Accomplishments while at Oregon Tech: 6 school records at Oregon Tech for track and field, All-American, 9-time national qualifier, Female Breakout Athlete of the Year 2017.

Why did you choose Oregon Tech? I chose Oregon Tech for the opportunity to have a hands-on education and to stand out to employers after graduation. There are incredible opportunities at Oregon Tech to grow outside of the classroom as well; internships, community involvement, and incredible outdoor activities. I toured many colleges, but Oregon Tech stood out to me as soon as I stepped foot on campus.

What do you like most about your program? I love the small class sizes; it feels like you’re getting a personalized education. The healthcare management program has given me opportunities to work at local clinics for class projects, building a network through the community.

What are you passionate about changing within this particular field and why? The healthcare system in America is a broken place. Long wait times, overcrowded emergency rooms, I want to make sure that these issues can be solved and we are providing patients with quality care. Oregon Tech has provided me with the tools to make a clinic more efficient while implementing best practices.

What would be your dream job? My dream job would be a clinical director. I would love to provide guidance to employees on quality health initiatives, use strategic planning for growing the clinic, and provide an environment where the administrative staff is approachable and employees feel comfortable speaking up.

What have been some of your favorite classes and why? The leadership classes at Oregon Tech have been my favorite. I have always been comfortable in a leadership position, but the tools I’ve gained through these classes have helped turn that passion into a reality. Not only have these classes taught me how to be an effective leader, but how to make a team one cohesive unit, so we can all succeed.

Is there anything about Oregon Tech that you wish everyone knew about? I wish everyone knew how much there is to do in Klamath Falls! Too often I hear people say “There’s nothing to do around here” but that’s simply not true. There are so many outdoor activities like hiking and winter sports, but there are also art studios where you can paint pottery, yoga classes, tons of great coffee shops, you just have to get out and explore!

Are you involved on campus? My campus involvement has been the Oregon Tech track and field team! It has been an incredible opportunity to represent our school as a student athlete. Every time I step on the track wearing my uniform, I am proud to be an Owl!

Have you participated in any internships or externships during your time at Oregon Tech? Did you gain valuable experience from them? I have participated in an internship at a local non-profit in Klamath Falls working with at-risk youth and teens. It has been an incredible eye-opening experience; I was able to apply so much of my knowledge from my classes to this opportunity. I developed a state-certified training program for the company to use for peer support services. This way they can partner with local clinics to get their clients the correct care they need.

Do you have employment/graduate school plans for after graduation? I am planning on moving to Bend to work with St. Charles Hospital. I want to get a few years of experience before I apply for a master's program. This way, I will be able to refer to situations I’ve experienced in the field to gain a better understanding of the material being taught!

Is there anything more that you would like to share with future students about campus, what you wish you knew before attending Oregon Tech or anything else? I wish I knew how many resources there are on campus! There are tutors for any subject you might need help with, a women's resource center, interlibrary loans, student health center, and so much more! Anything you might be struggling with, there’s a place for help at Oregon Tech. Everyone at this school wants YOU to succeed!
