Business Operations & Analytics prepares students to solve complex organizational challenges through data-driven decision making, process improvement, business analytics, and operational leadership. Students learn to analyze business systems, optimize performance, improve quality, and make strategic decisions using modern analytical tools including, Lean Six Sigma methodologies, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and emerging artificial intelligence technologies. Through small class sizes and extensive hands-on learning, students work closely with industry-experienced faculty and apply their knowledge to real business problems. The curriculum emphasizes quantitative analysis, project management, supply chain management, operational strategy, continuous improvement, and leadership, preparing graduates to improve organizational performance across manufacturing, healthcare, government, technology, and service industries.

Unique to Business Operations & Analytics is the study of LEAN and Six Sigma management. By choosing specific math and technical elective courses and completing an approved senior project, students can earn a Six Sigma green belt certification without requiring additional coursework. 

Jobs and Careers in Operations Management

The Bachelor of Science in Business Operations & Analytics degree program prepares students for leadership positions within a wide variety of product and service industries. Our graduates develop a mastery of concepts, tools, and skills in management sciences and specialties tailored to the industries of interest to the student upon graduation. An operations manager may be involved in overall strategy, plant layout and design, equipment selection, production scheduling, process improvement, and supply chain management.


 

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification

Oregon Tech is one of the few universities where students can earn an industry-recognized Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification as part of their bachelor's degree without requiring additional coursework. Through applied projects and senior capstone experiences, students learn the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) methodology used by organizations worldwide to improve quality, reduce costs, and solve complex operational problems. This credential provides graduates with a valuable professional distinction that is recognized across manufacturing, healthcare, government, logistics, finance, and many other industries.
