Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) announced that the University will reduce its proposed tuition increase to 4.5%, instead of the previously announced rate increase of 6.6%.

Salem, Ore. – The Oregon Senate confirmed four trustees for the governing board of Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) in February.

The Oregon Senate confirmed two new trustees for the governing board of Oregon Tech: Tim Hasty, a current student at Oregon Tech’s Klamath Falls campus; and Michele Vitali, Oregon Tech’s administrative lead at the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center Research & Development (OMIC) in Scappoose.

The Oregon Institute of Technology Board of Trustees met on July 24, both remotely and with some of the members in-person at the university’s Klamath Falls campus, with the primary focus to review the university’s re-opening plans for fall 2020.

Oregon Tech receives approximately 40 percent of its budget from the state; thus, the financial health of the university and the state are intricately linked. The state has estimated that it will take at least four years to get back to pre-COVID employment levels, and up to a decade of structural deficits.

Board of Trustees cover agenda items from approval of a new soccer field to discussing issues related to the university finances, online and high school programs, a new report on Oregon Tech’s economic footprint in its two major communities, and other items.

President Maples has led the university since 2008 as the institution’s sixth president and will continue to work with the University to ensure a seamless transition.
