Q. What is non-admit status at Oregon Tech?

A.

Non-Admit Status is an option for students seeking:

  1. Classes for personal enrichment, special interest, or to enhance job skills
  2. Coursework without necessarily seeking a degree at Oregon Tech
  3. Part-time enrollment for students who do not yet meet Oregon Tech's admission requirements for dual enrollment

Q. Can I be a non-admit student and earn a degree from Oregon Tech?

A.

Students seeking a degree from Oregon Tech are encouraged to meet with an Admissions Counselor to assist with eventual admission to the university. Non-admit students are cautioned that taking classes as a non-admit does not guarantee eventual admission to Oregon Tech. Non-admits, even those who perform well in their Oregon Tech classes, must also meet eligibility requirements for Freshman or Transfer admissions requirements to be formally admitted for degree completion.

Q. How many classes can I take each term as a non-admit?

A.

Non-admit students can take up to 8 credits per term.

Q. Can I use financial aid as a non-admit?

A.

Some services such as financial aid, academic advising, and transfer evaluation are not offered to non-admit students because they are generally considered to be non-degree seeking students. Without formal admission there is no binding agreement between the student and the university for completing an Oregon Tech degree.

Q. How do I apply as a non-admit?

A.

To submit a non-admit application, Apply Online no later than one week prior to the start of class. Official transcripts are not required to become a non-admitted student, but students must provide them to verify pre-requisites for registration purposes. Non-admit students are subject to the Registration Policies of the Office of the Registrar.

Q. Can international students take classes from Oregon Tech as a non-admit?

A.

Yes. International students who are attending another college or university may take classes from Oregon Tech as a non-admit with prior permission from their international student advisor at the institution holding the I-20.
