Welcome to Math Contest 2025!

Oregon Institute of Technology is excited to host the 2025 Oregon Tech's Regional Math Contest on April 15. The competition is open to high school students who are currently enrolled in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus in Klamath and Lake Counties.

The Oregon Tech Mathematics department has sponsored this event for over 35 years to engage more high school students in mathematics.

Below you will find information about the contests, how to register, and information needed on the day of the contests.

School bus parking

Check-In

Registration will take place upstairs in the Mt. Shasta Lounge.  

Students will check in at the appropriate event line and receive their exam packets.

Once checked in, students are free to partake in doughnuts and milk.  

Teachers/Chaperones should drop off Photo Release Waivers at this time.
 

Parking

Buses may drop students off at the Campus Circle, near the College Union (circled in red on the map).

Buses are to park in the lots across from F1/F2 or Lot E below the Soccer Complex.

Visitors who plan to arrive in their own vehicles must check in at the Parking Services kiosk in Lot D to receive a daily parking permit before parking on campus.

 

Preparatory Procedures

Exams will begin at 9:30 am. Students should have signed in, received their packets (containing scrap paper, a pencil, and the answer sheet with their assigned number), and have a calculator. Once in the exam rooms, students will stow away all electronic devices including phones, smart watches, and earbuds. Any visible devices during the exam will disqualify the student - no questions asked!

Exams

The students will be directed to their respective exam rooms at 9:20 am for exams to begin at 9:30 am. The test is 90 minutes in duration. Students/Schools are responsible for bringing calculators. They will not be provided by OIT.

Presentations

Presentations will take place after exams are finished.

Lunch

Jimmy Johns will provide lunch. It will consist of a selection of sandwiches and chips, along with bottled water. Students with dietary restrictions should check in with Event Staff for their lunches.

Awards Ceremony and Pictures

The awards ceremony and pictures will take place in the Center for Excellence in Engineering and Technology (CEET) building atrium after lunch.

Departure

Teachers will receive packets with participation certificates before they depart for the day.
