Biography

Dr. Bing Yuan holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Chemistry from the University of Arizona, a master’s degree in Environment from the University of Melbourne, and a Master of Science in Earth Science from Rice University. Before coming to Oregon Tech, she worked as a Research Associate at Colorado State University and Washington State University, and as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Cornell College for two years.

At Oregon Tech, she teaches general chemistry and environmental chemistry, helping students approach natural science problems through a chemical perspective. Her research focuses on reaction mechanisms in biological and environmental systems. She plans to expand her work at Oregon Tech by studying how plants defend against environmental stresses, as well as the role of abscisic acid in regulating fruit ripening and stress responses.

Outside of work, Dr. Yuan is a cat lover who also enjoys traveling, movies, gardening, and studying Chinese history.
