It’s a big weekend in Klamath Falls. Whether you watch the skies as part of the Winter Wings Festival or keep an eye on Danny Miles Court, you’re sure to see an owl in action! Oregon Institute of Technology’s homecoming weekend is here.

Come out to the games and cheer on the Hustlin’ Owls! The men’s and women’s basketball teams host the two Cascade Collegiate Conference schools from Portland. Concordia visits Danny Miles Court on Friday and Warner Pacific comes to town on Saturday.

The Oregon Tech (24-4, 14-2 CCC) men’s basketball team enters this weekend’s games knowing it has clinched at least a tie for their third straight Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season crown.  With a combination of a win over Friday’s opponent Concordia University, a victory against Warner Pacific College on Saturday, or a loss by Eastern Oregon University, Oregon Tech will win the regular season title outright.

Oregon Tech currently holds a two game lead, and the tiebreaker, with two games to play, over 2nd place Eastern Oregon University in the CCC standings.  This scenario assures Oregon Tech a spot at the 2011 NAIA II national championships in Branson, Mo. held March 9th – 16th on the campus of College of the Ozarks, as the regular season conference champion receives an automatic bid to the 32-team tournament.  Currently ranked No. 8 in this week’s NAIA top 25 poll, Oregon Tech is very familiar with the Ozark area, as the Hustlin’ Owls will make their ninth straight championship appearance at the event this March.

Oregon Tech is the #1 seed entering the CCC postseason tournament and will host all playoff games, considering the Owls continue to win in the postseason.  Oregon Tech takes a 52-game win streak into the final week of regular season play, with their last loss at home in the finals of the 2008 CCC tournament on March 1st to The Evergreen State College. Oregon Tech will host the quarterfinal round of the CCC tournament on Wednesday, February 23rd beginning at 7 p.m. with an opponent yet to be determined.  The semifinal round is February 26th, while the CCC finals take place on Tuesday, March 1st.  All postseason games begin at 7:00 p.m.
