Memo from the President
Dear Oregon Tech Faculty and Staff,
As we fast approach the start of the fall term, there is much to look forward to a healthier year ahead for all of us to interact more in person given that the pandemic is mostly behind us, the return of students, welcoming new faculty and staff and welcoming back our continuing faculty, new and improved teaching, research, and athletics facilities, and celebrating Oregon Tech’s 75th anniversary and all that our university has accomplished in the past thanks to the contributions of so many, like each of you do today, and to envision the future.
In 1894, Labor Day was officially recognized as a national holiday to celebrate the social and economic achievements of the American workforce. Today, this recognition remains well deserved.
Our accomplishments and successes, even throughout the pandemic, are a testament to your commitment and dedication. As a university, we have a unique role in shaping the future of the workforce, particularly in technology-focused areas, and in nurturing tomorrow’s leaders. I appreciate each and every one of you and your contributions to Oregon Tech. It is amazing how much we can accomplish when we work together toward a common goal of student success.
I want to take time this Labor Day to celebrate your contributions to the university. I wish you all a safe and happy holiday with your families and friends.
Go Owls!
Sincerely,
Nagi G. Naganathan, Ph.D., ASME Fellow
President
