Meet the Faculty

Jack Walker, Department Chair

Jack Walker, Department Chair, Professor


Jack Walker, PLS, currently serves as Department Chair and teaches courses including Geodesy, Analytical Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, Map Projections, and Least Squares Adjustment. Applied research and consulting activities include drone applications in surveying and inspection, mineral surveying, and precise deformation monitoring.

He enjoys mountaineering, skiing, fishing and backpacking.

Mason Marker

Mason Marker, Professor


Mason Marker, PLS, CFedS, CWRE, teaches Boundary Law, Construction and Engineering Surveying, and GNSS courses. Prior to teaching at Oregon Tech, Prof. Marker worked eight years for a private consulting company that provided land development and civil engineering services.

John Ritter

John Ritter, Professor


He teaches Geographic Information Systems (GIS) courses which entail vector and raster processing, Python programming, database development, mobile applications, web mapping and applications, as well as GIS Server management. He is an ESRI Desktop Associate, an ESRI Business Partner, and has achieved CTT+ Instructor Certification. He focuses on seeing students apply their GIS skills to real-world problems, such as quantifying community health concerns in Klamath County. Prior to joining Oregon Tech he was a Senior Research Scientist at the NASA-Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA.

He enjoys hiking, camping, cycling, and competitive swimming.

Orlando Aquino

Orlando Aquino, Adjunct

Orlando Aquino, LSIT, is employed with the Rhine-Cross Group, LLC. An engineering and surveying firm in Klamath Falls, OR. He graduate with a BS in Geomatics from Oregon Tech in 2014.

He enjoys all aspects of the outdoors, which the state of Oregon provides a variety of options to explore.

Ethan Howard

Ethan Howard, Adjunct

Ethan Howard is employed as a GIS Specialist for the US Forest Service's Region 6 Office. He is stationed on the Fremont-Winema National Forest in Klamath Falls, OR. He graduated with a BS in Environmental Science with a Minor in GIS from Oregon Tech in 2008. He ran both Cross Country and Track & Field for Oregon Tech.

He enjoys theology, playing electric guitar, running, playing board games, movies, music, and spending time with friends and family.

Michelle McBride

Michelle McBride, Adjunct

Michelle McBride, PLS, owner of McBride Surveying & Mapping in Klamath Falls. She graduated with BS in Geomatics and a GIS Minor from Oregon Tech in 2012. She is licensed in Oregon and California.

She enjoys backpacking, snowboarding, paddle boarding, weightlifting and puzzles, all while spending time with her friends and family.

Mitch Duryea

Mitch Duryea, Distance Education Adjunct

Mitch Duryea, PLS, Owner of Duryea & Associates, which specializes in ALTA surveys.  He is licensed in Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Hawaii. 

He teaches online boundary law and legal principles courses. Mitch is also a volunteer with the Boys Scouts of America.
