Oregon's only master's degree in applied behavior analysis, the MS-ABA curriculum focuses on providing a rigorous and thorough foundation in the science of behavior analysis. Dr. Dawn Bailey is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D) with over 25 years of experience designing behavioral and learning programs for persons with emotional/behavioral disorders, autism and other developmental disabilities. Dr. Bailey received her graduate training in applied behavior analysis at Florida State University under Dr. Jon S. Bailey, where she was awarded her Ph.D. in 2008. She is a frequent presenter at behavior analysis conferences and gives workshops to teachers, parents, and staff on a variety of topics related to the practice of behavior analysis. She was a consultant to school districts, private families, and state agencies in Florida from 1998 to 2015. Dr. Bailey is a former member of the Behavior Analysis Peer Review Committee in the State of Georgia, which works with the state to improve the quality of behavior analysis services provided to individuals with developmental disabilities. Currently, Dr. Bailey directs Oregon Tech’s BIG ABA clinic, which provides ABA services to children and families throughout southern Oregon. Recent research projects include procedures related to accessing dental care in children with autism as well as more effective and efficient staff training practices. Dr. Bailey is an active advocate for practitioners and service recipients of behavior analysis and is the current President of the Association for Behavior Analysis (APBA).
Marriage and Family Therapy
Practice Based Learning for Excellence Based Practice
The Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Program is a 3-year, full-time graduate program located in Klamath Falls, OR. The Program equips students to become trauma-informed and culturally responsive MFTs. With an emphasis on rural mental health care, students leave the MFT Program ready to work with diverse clients in rural and urban areas.
Through course instruction and hands-on learning opportunities, students learn how to connect contemporary issues to symptom presentation and case conceptualization of individuals, couples, and families – equipping them with necessary skills and abilities for the evolving field that awaits. The MFT Program offers advanced specialty training in Integrated Behavioral Healthcare and Medical Family Therapy (MedFT) and substance misuse, addiction, and recovery. Students leave our program with the educational requirements to become Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor III (CADC III).

Kevin Garrett gladly joins the Oregon Institute of Technology faculty as Clinical Director of the M.S. Marriage and Family Therapy master’s degree program. Prior to teaching at Oregon Tech, Kevin taught for three years in southwestern Oklahoma at Cameron University in the Department of Psychology. He served as one of the clinical faculty in the Psychology Department and as a Practicum Supervisor while at Cameron University. He worked full-time in community mental health as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Wyoming for five years before teaching at Cameron University. Kevin completed his Ph.D. in the Marriage and Family Therapy specialization at Kansas State University in 2014, earned his master’s degree in the Marriage and Family Therapy specialization at the University of Oregon in 2006, and received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Utah State University in 2003. He completed a Medical Family Therapy-focused doctoral internship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska in 2009, and earned a post-degree certificate in Medical Family Therapy while completing his doctoral internship. Kevin holds the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Approved Supervisor designation. He looks forward to giving presentations in the community, region, state, as well as nationally. He is excited to be returning to his home state of Oregon, and to bring his clinical experience, passion for teaching, and community-focused orientation to Oregon Tech!
