EMS Information Sessions

Information sessions for prospective students interested in EMS programs are offered throughout the academic year. The session includes a presentation about our programs, information about the admission process, a question and answer period and ends with a tour of the facility. Please see dates and times listed below. Questions regarding transcripts and prerequisite course acceptance may be addressed prior to the session by emailing Deb Disko.

We are offering opportunities to shadow our students for day and sit in on classes, explore Oregon Tech and learn about the great EMS opportunities in our joint OHSU/Oregon Tech EMS programs.

EMS Department Information

We are a nationally recognized leader in EMS education offering one of the few university programs in the country with joint degree programs between a leading technology university (Oregon Tech) and a medical school (Oregon Health and Science University). Located primarily at the Oregon Tech Wilsonville campus, the department is a unique partnership between the two renowned institutions, and had its origin as an offshoot of the medical school training programs at Oregon Health and Science University in 1977.


Our program offers a diversified educational experience designed to develop strong field provider skills, as well as management and leadership training within EMS. Students with the discipline and drive to successfully complete our programs, earn eligibility for both state and national licensing exams, and find employment with leading agencies across the Nation. EMT Certification and AAS Paramedic Degree

Our EMT and Paramedic program, as are all of the degree offerings from our EMS department are a collaborative effort between OIT and OHSU. The minimum goal expectation of our paramedic program is “To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels.” Please note we do not currently offer education or training at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician or Emergency Medical Responder levels

BS EMS Management

Our bachelor degree in EMS management has the flexibility to meet students working in the field and at various levels in their education.  In addition to strong management coursework our bachelor program offers paramedic clinical courses in critical care and community care paramedic medicine.  

Tuition and Fees

Please see the attached tuition and fees document linked on the website for the latest costs. Tuition and fees are subject to change.

In addition to tuition and fees, students are responsible for the costs of background checks, Immunizations, Drug screens, textbooks, stethoscope, eye protection, FISDAP account, uniforms, scrubs, state license fees and national exams. Students are also required to have their own health insurance.

A student seeking admission who anticipates the need for financial aid should contact Oregon Tech immediately. Do not wait for an "admission offer" to apply for aid as funds are awarded as available. The Associate of Applied Science program in Emergency Medical Technology exceeds Oregon and National standards for paramedic programs.

We are regionally accredited by: the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program.

The OHSU-Oregon Tech Paramedic Education Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Professions (CoAEMSP).
