Important Tips to a Smooth Graduation

1. Check Your Degree Works Audit (undergrads only)

Track degree progress - DegreeWorks.

2. Meet with Your Advisor

Together you and your advisor will run your electronic degree audit and check your progress toward your degree. Your application to graduate should be submitted to the Registrar's Office at least 2 terms prior to anticipated degree completion.

Note: You no longer need a "petition to graduate." Paper/hard copy petitions are available if you would like one for personal use.

3. Submit an Application for Degree

Submit the Application for Degree at least two terms prior to your anticipated degree completion term. Your records will be reviewed and you will be notified if additional courses need to be completed or outstanding items need to be taken care of in order for you to graduate.

4. Register for Commencement

RSVP to with how many guests (up to 4) you will have. If you DO NOT plan on participating in the Portland-Metro graduation, please notify The University Registrar's Office will mail your diploma to you; please ensure you have updated your current address.

5. Complete an Exit Interview & Clear Your Holds

All graduating seniors who have loans must participate in an exit interview in order to graduate.

Students should check their account for holds before graduation. Those who have holds placed on their accounts will not have their diplomas mailed (review the diploma release policy). Holds can result from very small charges, such as library fines or medicinal charges at the Student Health Center. Students can ensure that their accounts are free of holds on Web for Student.

6. Complete Degree Requirements

Requirements for associate and bachelor's degrees at Oregon Institute of Technology are determined by, and vary with, academic departments. Curricular requirements for each degree can be found in the catalog under each department.
