A Little Bit About Me

My name is Adonai Florival, and I aspire to become a mechanical engineer and build my own engineering firm. I thrive on hands-on problem solving, whether sketching designs in CAD or refining a prototype until every part fits perfectly. I’m naturally curious—I disassemble gadgets just to see how they work—and persistent, treating each setback as fuel for smarter iterations. I value collaboration and enjoy mentoring peers, because sharing ideas sparks innovation. My long term goal is to create my own industry where I and my employees create.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I chose Oregon Tech because it offers a hands-on, real-world approach to engineering that aligns with how I learn best. I also appreciate the smaller class sizes and the opportunity to work closely with faculty who are invested in student success. I’m pursuing engineering because I want to design solutions that make a difference not only my community, but the world. Oregon Tech’s focus on innovation matches me.

My Influential Professors

One of the most influential teachers in my life was my high school engineering teacher, Mrs. Allen. I had her class for two years, and during that time, she taught me more than just the fundamentals of engineering but how to think like an engineer. Her support and the projects we worked on helped solidify my decision to pursue engineering as a career. I learned CAD, 3D printing, and how to focus on my true passions.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

In high school, I discovered that the most powerful learning happens when you’re forced outside your comfort zone. Leading multiple teams throughout high school-whether it be clubs or in-school projects, taught me that deadlines are everything. To accomplish what was tasked, breaking down and deconstructing everything was key. That habit of deconstructing tasks has and will help me further myself in not only my studies during high school, but also during college and the rest of my life.

My Plans After Graduation

After graduating with my engineering degree, my plan is to earn my certification and gain experience working at a major engineering company. I want to be part of real-world projects that challenge me and help me grow both technically and professionally. During that time, I’ll be learning everything I can. How to manage projects, lead teams, and create innovative solutions that solve real problems. Once I’ve gained that experience, I plan to start my own engineering business.
