1.    Why did you choose Oregon Tech?
I chose Oregon Tech because of its strong emphasis on hands-on, career-focused education. Specifically, the physical therapy program stood out to me for its small class sizes and close faculty relationships, promoting facilitative learning. I knew I would be supported academically while also being challenged to grow as a future physical therapist. I also appreciated the sense of community on campus and the program’s reputation for preparing students well for clinical practice.

2.    What do you like most about your program?
What I love most about the physical therapy program is the genuine sense of community, not only between the students but with the faculty as well. The students support one another, and the professors truly care about how you are doing both in and out of the classroom. It feels reassuring to be in a program where you always have someone to go to when things get challenging.

3.    What are you passionate about changing within this particular field and why?
I am passionate about helping people better understand the value of physical therapy beyond just injury recovery. Physical therapy is always evolving, and I want to be part of a field that focuses on prevention, education, and long-term quality of life. Being able to build meaningful relationships with patients and help them feel confident in their care is something that really motivates me.

4.    What have been some of your favorite classes and why?
One of my favorite parts of the program has been the Integrated Clinical Experience classes. Working directly with community members as their student physical therapist during programs like Walk with Ease, Better Bones and Balance, and kids’ soccer camps has been incredibly meaningful. These experiences allow me to apply what I am learning in real time while building confidence, communication skills, and genuine connections with the people I serve. It has been one of the most rewarding and impactful parts of my education.

5.    Is there anything about Oregon Tech that you wish everyone knew about?
I wish everyone knew how close-knit and supportive the Oregon Tech community truly is. It is a place where people genuinely want to see you succeed, and that support goes far beyond academics. The relationships you build here, on and off campus, really make it feel like home.

6.    Is there anything more that you would like to share with future students about campus/what you wish you knew before beginning your program?
I would tell future students not to be afraid to ask for help and to lean into the community around them. The program is challenging, but you are never expected to do it alone. I also wish I had known how quickly everything moves, so I would encourage students to stay present, support each other, and enjoy the journey! Also, the coffee in the College Union Building is a lifesaver :)
