A Little Bit About Me

I am a 21 year old Female, I live with my partner and our dog, an Australian mutt named Kerby. I enjoy my days as often as I can with my little family unit. I love hiking, having picnics with my partner and dog, and going on adventures in general. When that isn't an option, I enjoy a nice day at home spent studying or enjoying a book or game. Before I found this place for myself, I was largely unsupported. I was alone for most of my life and I started working to support myself at 14. I have been working to do my best to further myself academically since then. I was born in Arizona and after my first attempt at undergraduate college education, moved from AZ to Oregon, starting in Lincoln City and eventually moving to Hillsboro. I love this state and the forests and vast waters.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I chose my major while I worked in a hospital, my favorite coworkers were in the imaging department; I think the technology is exciting and the skills required to take these images effectively are such a necessity for hospitals and ERs. This line of work is truly life saving.

My Influential Professors

Dr. Greg Pak is, in my opinion, my most influential professor, he is also my advisor; he above all else drives all his advisees and students to meet standards of excellence and he never once stops believing you are capable of doing anything you want to, until you tell him otherwise, and even then he will attempt to motivate you to keep your head up. In a world climate where most students have to work to live and have to really work to go to school, having such a motivational figure in my academic life has been one of the defining reason for my resilience so far.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

So far my greatest learning experience has been being able to take a Microbiology course with a lab at home. I have a busy schedule with work and other classes, so I was ecstatic that there was an online option for this class. When my lab kit showed up, working on the labs that came with it have been so incredibly fun and exciting. Being able to do science like this at home feels very empowering and it drives me to really learn from the material.

My Plans After Graduation

After OIT I plan on continuing my education into a Master's degree. I plan on attending Pacific University for their Physician's Assistant program. I am currently working to ensure I take all prerequisite courses I can while here at OIT to prepare for my future. After I receive my Bachelor's and then Master's degree, I plan on using my skills in rural and underserviced communities.
